Meet Abdelnasser
Abdelnasser Rashid is running for re-election as State Representative because working families deserve ethical representation. As State Representative, Abdelnasser is putting people, families and communities first, not corporate special interests. He is fighting to root out corruption, fund public education, and work to fix the broken property tax system that punishes working families while giving huge corporations major tax cuts.
Abdelnasser grew up helping his mother run a booth at the local flea market and his father operate a small retail business in Chicago. He went on to receive his degree from Harvard University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
A lifelong advocate for justice, Abdelnasser has worked on issues ranging from affordable housing to immigrant rights. Before serving in elected office, he held senior roles in government and organizing, helping advance bold reforms and building grassroots power in underrepresented communities.
In his first two terms, Abdelnasser passed more than ten bills into law. He was appointed by Speaker Welch to co-chair the Illinois AI Task Force, as well as to the Property Tax Working Group. He serves on six committees and serves as Vice Chair of the Small Business, Technology Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Committee.
Abdelnasser lives with his wife and four children in Bridgeview.
